Frog Watching

Life has slowed down for a lot of people this year, granting a wish that many of us have made even if it wasn't made in the way we'd hoped. In this time, many of us have developed new hobbies to enjoy during our time at home, such as frog watching.

Flu Shot Specials

This year we have even more considerations when it comes to getting our flu shots. How can you safely get one? My husband and I went to Target for ours since we get $5 gift cards (which we blew on a Halloween cat scratching house!) and it was easy enough to get in and out. We're taking our teen to our doctor's well visit office to get one.

Getting More Women To Run And Lead

As a woman who's been approached by a PAC to run for office and declined, I know what's at stake and why we should run. But I've also served in several leadership positions and I know how difficult it is not only to balance your job and life within these volunteer gigs, but how easy it is to make mistakes when you're just trying to do the right thing. In fact, you wrestle with being fair so much that it drives you to exhaustion. I'd jokingly blame my INFJ personality as the culprit for my lack of desire to serve, but the truth is... I want to serve.

Stewie's First Word

We finally have spoilers about the first episode of the 19th season of Family Guy and it sounds like it's going to be hilarious! Stewie is going to utter his very first word and it's going to be something offensive. What else would it be, after all?

Unfortunately Lois is going to be shunned by other moms because of Stewie's curse word and she's going to attempt to discover where he heard it. Big spoiler for anyone who isn't a parent: they usually learn it from their parents!

All The Apple Crafts

A few years ago, I taught a fall crafting class for pre-K kids and I realized that I had forgotten how to make apple stamps! I figured it would just come back to me and I brought the apples to class with me... and nothing. I just made a mess! It was a good lesson in planning.

There are so many fun crafts you can make with apples in the fall, though, from apple banners and bulletin boards to shrunken apples to use for Halloween decorations.

Retro Halloween Decorations

Over the past few years, I've noticed vintage Halloween decorations really making a comeback. This year I've seen more throwbacks to old decorations than ever and I love it! Many Etsy sellers are even able to find original designs to replicate.

I still have a few of my grandmother's old decorations, but over the years too many of them have become degraded due to weather and age. I really wish I could have many more as it was her favorite holiday, too.

What cool vintage decorations do you have? Share them with us in the chat!

Google Meetings For Party Games

Last week we held a Two Truths and a Lie game night from home over Google Meetings and it worked out quite well. The great thing about Google Meetings is that you don't have the time limits imposed by Zoom, so you can hang out for much longer than 40 minutes if you want to. We used the platform for an hour and a half and still could have stayed on longer.

Must-Haves For Furry Friends

When it comes to our animal companions, we have a lot of different preferences about what they eat, where they sleep, what they play with and so forth based on our own budgets and their needs and personalities. For example, I know that if I buy all those cute tiny cat toys for my cats, most will be ignored, and when my dogs were pups I couldn't buy the really cute little toys because they'd be gone in two seconds flat!

Critiquing Poetry

There are lots of different ways to critique a written work, so when someone asks you to give them constructive feedback about a poem, how do you go about it? Many people would argue that you should buffer criticism between compliments to make the poet feel better about anything they might want to change.
